Window Tinting Law

Home / Window Tinting Law

Just the tint you need

We install the broadest lines of automotive films on the market. There’s the perfect film for every vehicle. Dark, light, reflective, or matte, with the wide variety of visible light transmission (VLTs) levels and finishes, making choosing a window film easy. Dapaa Tints has just the right product that meets your performance needs and UK tinting laws.

Back (behind B – Pillar)
There are no minimum limits of Visual Light Transmission for the rear doors and rear screen. Essentially this includes all windows behind the ‘B’ pillar. As rear windows are not subject to any restrictions and problems with heat build up are more common in rear passenger spaces and boots; vehicle owners can enjoy all the benefits of fitting window film to these areas of the car.

Forward (front B – Pillar)
The minimum level of visible light transmission allowable by law for the front doors that have been tinted is 70% – Visual Light Transmission and 75% Visual Light Transmission for front windscreens.

Clear Security Film that only marginally reduces the visible light transmission levels on windows forward of the ‘B’ pillar may be considered to be compliant with the amended regulations subject as long as it does not result in the vision of the driver being obscured in any way.
